Come See the New Trees!

On May 5, 17 enthusiastic helpers showed up with shovels and gloves to help plant trees and shrubs in our churchyard and cemetery.   These plantings are intended to not only to beautify our grounds, but to reduce the "heat island" effect of having a large yard  with no tree canopy.  The UCC MassReLeaf program provided $1,700 in trees and shrubs for the program including 6 Redbud Forest Pansy Trees in the cemetery along Central Street, 2 Cornelian Cherry Dogwood trees in the cemetery along Abbott Street, and 2 Blaaw’s Pink Azaleas in the cemetery along Church Street.  Volunteers also maintained numerous small plants in several locations in the cemetery and in the front part of the Village Church property.   Afterwards, the Board of Properties pitched in by providing much needed watering bags for the trees.  Take a walk on our grounds and see if you can spot our newest additions!
