Douglas has a varied background that includes oversight of facilities while serving as Chief Financial Officer in for-profit organizations and as board member and treasurer of non-profit organizations, including his two previous churches. After a couple of decades in corporate finance, Douglas changed careers to what he had originally intended (his first degrees are in history from James Madison University and Columbia University) to teach history and the theory of knowledge in the United States and at UWC China. He and his wife moved to Wellesley from New Mexico in January 2019, and, wanting to be useful to the church, he took on the vital work of administering the church’s facilities.
Douglas was born in Taiwan and lived in several other countries before settling in the Washington, D.C., area when he was in fourth grade. He is married to Christie, a member of the WVC choir, and they have two grown sons together. They have been members of Presbyterian churches in Dallas and New Mexico and a U.C.C. church in Guilford, Vermont, before joining Village Church. Douglas has recently taken up classical guitar and enjoys the WVC Men’s Book Group.
