Village Churchwomen meet monthly, usually the second Tuesday, for lunch or tea accompanied by a program. Our major annual fundraisers are the Rummage Sale and the Harvest Fare, which support outreach programs.
Village Churchwomen Lunch with St. Andrew's Women
Tuesday, October 8, 12 noon
CHAPLAINS ON THE WAY
Spiritual companioning in community ...
M Mental Health
Are these issues that worry you? If so, please come to the Village Churchwomen's first meeting of the year on Tuesday, October 8th at 12 noon for lunch and to meet the Rev. Joan Murray, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, member of the Wellesley Congregational Church, and founder/staff chaplain at Chaplains on the Way.
Working in the city of Waltham with volunteers from faith communities and with chaplain interns, she strives to "companion" people with insufficient material resources who are experiencing isolation or struggle related to homelessness, or experiencing addiction or other physical/mental challenges. Chaplains on the Way not only works as a bridge between those in need and those who can provide help, but also fights for systemic change around issues relating to homelessness and for treatment of addiction and mental illness.
This promises to be an enlightening meeting as well as an enjoyable time with our sisters from St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Please sign up on the Village Churchwomen Sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Central Street Lobby by OCTOBER 1st so we know how much food to provide.
