Summer Worship

9:00 am in the Chapel, through Sept 2 Seeking the Spirit: Living the Life of Faith. Experience all the life-giving ways the Spirit moves in & through & among us.

Summer worship Sunday's include: communion, song, scripture, and more. During the summer, Village Church comes together for a single worship service similar to the First Worship experience.

In addition to our pastors, Village Church members join in the leadership of these services through music, prayer, and preaching. We worship in the summer as an intergenerational family, and children are invited to participate fully in worship in whatever way is right for them.

Childcare for all ages is available in The Family Room which is located on the main floor outside of the sanctuary. During this time there will be free play, Veggie Tale movies and snacks.

Summer Worship includes:

  • Music on instruments as varied as the piano, acoustic guitar, bass, flute, and drums;

  • Confession and prayer practices such as the sinking of stones (to let go of our sins and failings) and the floating of flowers (to lift up our praises and thanksgivings);

  • Communion offered every Sunday, received while gathered together around a common table;

  • Scripture readings and messages that connect our ancient faith and our contemporary lives.

After Summer Worship services, worshipers are invited to enjoy conversation and a glass of punch in the Cloister.

Ecumenical worship with other local churches also takes place in August at 10:00 am on Sundays.  The 2018 schedule is as follows:

August 12 ~ @ Village Church (NO 9am worship) Rev. Dr. Matt Wooster preaching

August 19 ~ @ Wellesley Hills (207 Washington St) Rev. Adrian Robbins-Coles preaching
